Our History

A JOURNEY FROM 1975
UNTIL NOW

Back in 1975, Evaggelos Vasilakis established his company and a lot has changed since then. The technological equipment, raw materials, the customers’ preferences and the fashion. It is one element though which remains imperishable. Ever since the first day of our company’s activity, we manufacture quality kitchen furniture and nothing else. It is that way we stay true to our philosophy as well as to those who support us.

1975

Establishment of the company

On the 6th of March 1975, Evaggelos Vasilakis establishes his own company.

A workshop of 150 square metres, where built-in kitchens are being constructed.

The famous rabote kitchen

The very first kitchen is created at Vasilakis Kitchen Furniture. The hardwood door and handle, the formica counter, the special wall shelves and the reclining seats designed to provide extra storage area, are the features which made this specific model so popular in the marketplace.

1976

Hardwood formica with grab handles

The dining area escapes the typical dining table set and turns into a kitchen continuum.

1977

The extractor hood

The extractor hood is inserted into a special construction so that it isn’t too noticeable and doesn’t become the central point of attention of the kitchen.

1978

The cooking area changes its style

The cooktops are being moved to the servery’s side for greater convenience when cooking.

1979

Formica faux wood

In the program ‘62’ we see, for the very first time, formica imitating the grain patters of the wood as well as the first mechanisms for food storage.

1980

Corner kitchen

A very distinctive and pioneer design, where the cooker as well as the cooktops are positioned at the corner of the room.

1981

Modest design

Simple arrangement with a door that brings modern and traditional together.

1982

Bald contrasts

The grey formica with the textured feel come to contrast the yellow of the sidelines and doorhandle.

1983

Construction of the first factory

In 1983 the small factory in Athens doesn’t cover the needs of the marketplace and is being moved to the 1.000-square-metre proprietorial grounds in Markopoulo Athens.

Traditional cottage kitchen

Wood dominates the space. From the wooden table base and the bamboo chairs to the hardwood battens on the roof.

1984

Glass and aluminium

New materials come out. Glass doors and aluminium roll tops give a new respect to the kitchen section.

1985

Everyday dining

Two-sides en-fonte grey formica, with light blue matt lacquer features. Everyday dining space for 3 people.

1986

Sliding table

A semi-hardwood kitchen in bordeaux colour with white marble. The sliding table mechanism assures the extra space of a counter top.

Glyfada furniture showroom

Our new furniture showroom accomodates a collection of models able to meet every decorating concept.

1987

The superiority of the wood

Semi-hardwood door, hardwood countertop with hardwood 10mm sidelines and kitchen hanging rack with lighting spots, all come together to complete a space, having wood as the dominant characteristic.

1988

A combination of hardwood and matt lacquer

Semi-hardwood door with hardwood cherry tree door frame and matt lacquer tabla. Formica countertop with hardwood lath combined with a granite cooker. Fireplace type hood extractor.

1989

Markopoulo furniture showroom

A new furniture showroom opens in Markopoulo Athens

1990

Ioanina pink marble

The kitchen island is the heart of the kitchen. This is where cooking takes place but this is also where everyday dining occurs too.

1991

High gloss lacquer

The exceptionally high quality of the high gloss lacquer remains unalterable through the years.

1992

Pearl lacquer

In the early 90s, the pearl comes to enrich the category of lacquers and that in turn, add a fine finish.

1993

The advance of the wardrobe

Having been building wardrobes since 1985, we use our experience to give a different look to the wardrobe, so it gives a sense of furniture.

1994

Country aura

The installation, the art form but mainly the colour of the kitchen take you to a distant city far away.

1995

Wodden roll top

The hand-made beachwood roll top, takes centre stage in this section of the house.

1996

Formica lupo

The program 70 includes high gloss formica with metal displays, granite asoluto countertop 3cm thick and porcelane handles.

Factory expansion

In 1996, the factory expands its grounds and renews its mechanical equipment, in order to be able to cover the growth of the selected wholesale.

1997

Timeless kitchen

High quality in a model which always remains fashionable through the years.

1998

Colour challenge

The high gloss lacquer is impressive on its own. Let alone when it comes in bald colours.

1999

A combination of hand-made and traditional

A classic decape-style hardwood model, available in 4 colours; beige, green, blue and purple.

2000

High gloss formica

The white cabinets and the black granite create a warm contrast with the cooker hood’s inox.

2001

Abundant blue purple

The colour of the kitchen itself, takes you away on a voyage across the deep sea. The kitchen counter is built with tiles and the wooden battens blend in perfectly with the style of the space.

2002

Invincible experience

The high gloss lacquer which is so bald it resembles a mirror, creates an incredible allure for cooking. The hardwood beech counter works in perfect relation with the aluminium crosspiece.

2003

Superior elegance

A door with a cherry hardwood frame and matt lacquer tabla. The horizontal hardwood laths create a unique and colourful result.

2004

Where the mirror and the kitchen meet

The base oven cabinet, the cabinet vitrine display, the cabinet shelf base and the free standing glass shelves, provide multiple solutions for storage.

2005

Apple wood formica

Those who love their kitchens, pick the colours they like, no matter how bald they are.

2006

The beauty of beechwood

Tradition and novelty, classic and modern, dovetail with each other, in the model 32/9. Working in this kitchen is real fun.

2007

Classic kitchen

Each one of our kitchens is being manufactured by our craftsmen, making the owners feel like they have something exquisite in their possession.

2008

Straight lines

Sandblasted glass doors with a wide aluminium frame, are encircled by the flawless quality lacquer.

2009

Marquetry

Marquetry veneer, cherry wood and walnut tree. Four materials in perfect harmony. Wood, inox, glass and granite.

2010

Inox in the kitchen

We use quality materials and give emphasis even to the tiniest detail.

2011

Kitchen exportations

After persistent efforts of many years, the first exportations are now a fact.

2012

Veneer walnut

The simple but modern design of the model 43/3, searches for practical solutions without having the beauty of the space playing second fiddle.

2013

Black and white

On many occasions, less is more.

2014

Free standing wardrobe

The classics meet the current trends aiming to develop a contemporary wardrobe with a classic style.

2015

40 years Vasilakis. 40 years of manufacture.

In 1975 we presented our first model, the famous rabote kitchen. The love for what we do has remained the same.

2016

Space with comfort

When the kitchen becomes the centre of attention for the whole family, we need to combine the functionality with the allure and the innovation with the emotion.
